Going with the Flow

Here we are, just saying hello. I've lost the thread and won't say that I have picked it up again, but will make an effort in that direction. The humid weight of summer weighs down, one day at a time, until there are no days left. As the last days of July flow into August, the light and leaves turn dusky with time. There is only this as it always has been, as the pull of summer tries to eke out one more day, or many. Thirsty to hold as much water in my hands as I can, I know it won't wait for me. 

Oh Lovely Thank You For This

Just something pretty from this morning, to sweep away the cobwebs of last week's post, and hey, it's almost time for some vacation! Taking a trip to Philadelphia to see my brother and his family...I haven't squeezed that baby in a while! It will be good because it's been too long and it's time to take a break. Oh, and not to mention we are going to see Grease, so I am priming little gal with all these songs she's never heard. She pats my shoulder like, "there, there, mom, that's nice," and then goes to watch Adventure Time. It will be great, don't worry!

It has been a bit of a while since I have posted anything. It's like life got in the way, but that's the way it should go, I guess. This summer has been a lovely dream of perfect weather with a hint of fall mixed in some days. It's been full of lots of family and hiking and lawnmowing and one particularly excited birthday girl. We said goodbye to our uncle gone too soon. I looked for and found many moments of beauty and stored them mostly in my mind. I'm ok with the passing of this into the next, because there are good things there too. But the passing of people or time is an ever-present reminder...you know what I'm going to say, right? 

Pay attention.

We Took A Trip To the Beach

...well, at least it's our local "beach"... 

where there is no surf but the water is still freezing. we looked closely and found a heart!

the water lilies were in bloom. there were lots of tiny fish making these mating circles in the water, at least that's what we think. we tried not to disturb them. 

 little gal was blissed out when she found a flower that someone had plucked already, just sitting on the rope that reigns in the swimmers. we came home sleepy and warm, happy with this day.
